Description

Zijuan Black Tea – A Treasury of Organic Anthocyanins Gifted by Yunnan’s Misty Mountain Forests

Zijuan Black Tea originates from Yunnan’s unique tea cultivar “Zijuan”, first discovered in 1985 by the Tea Research Institute of Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Manzhen Tea Garden, Menghai County.

This tea plant was named for its purple buds, leaves, and stems, with leaves rich in anthocyanins that exhibit a distinctive purple-red hue. Researchers cultivated it through individual plant selection, officially naming it “Zijuan” in 1986. The name draws inspiration from both “Zijuan” (the maid of Lin Daiyu in Dream of the Red Chamber) and the purple characteristics of the tea buds.

Experiments by Yunnan Institute of Materia Medica confirmed Zijuan Tea’s remarkable blood pressure-lowering effects, reducing hypertension by 35.53% – outperforming regular green tea. Studies also revealed its rich content of tea polyphenols, catechins, and other compounds with antioxidant and lipid-lowering properties.

In Yunnan’s ethnic minority cultures, purple symbolizes nobility and auspiciousness, making Zijuan Black Tea a premium product that combines health benefits with cultural significance.

Zijuan Black Tea Triple-Action Wellness: Beauty • Energy • Longevity

Our Zijuan black tea trees grow wild in high-altitude mountainous regions at 1,600 meters above sea level. Nourished by mountain springs and bathed in highland ultraviolet rays that enhance their antioxidant properties, these tea trees thrive without human intervention throughout the year. Only during the spring tea-picking season do people set foot in this pristine land.

Our Zijuan black tea is crafted using the traditional “sun-withering + fermentation” tea-making process. By combining the full-fermentation techniques of traditional Dianhong black tea with the unique characteristics of Zijuan tea trees, we’ve created a tea with distinctive features: a radiant red liquor, honeyed fruit aroma, and refreshing throat sensation.

What sets this Zijuan black tea apart is its exceptional durability – it can withstand more than 10 infusions with ease. In 2013, Zijuan tea seeds traveled aboard the Shenzhou-10 spacecraft for radiation experiments, further confirming their extraordinary biological activity.
